Thanks

by Patty

Given that tomorrow is Thanksgiving, it seems only appropriate to reflect on life and all that we are thankful for. So excuse the cheese, but it needs to be said (well, written).

We are thankful for our families. Immediate and extended, they are all amazing individuals who have touched our lives in unforgettable ways. We are especially thankful for our parents, because among so many other things, our upcoming wedding would not be possible (in many ways!) without them. We love you!

We are thankful for our friends. We share laughs, meals, birthdays, emails and sooo much more. You inspire us, humble us and love us. We are thankful for you on a daily basis.

We are thankful for our jobs, in a time when so many don't have them. We never forget how lucky we are.

We are also thankful for each other. Every. Single. Day.

Happy Thanksgiving, y'all.

Still Tasty?

by Patty

I found something. Well, actually, my gurl Kelly found something. It's amazing. I can't wait until you read this, moms (since BOTH of you keep things like salad dressing years past when you should).

Picture this: You just got home from work. You're tired. You didn't go grocery shopping for the 12th day in a row. You have nothing in your cupboards! (You really have a lot.) Wait...that's the story of my life... sorry, I digress.

ANYWAY, you are looking in your fridge for the 4th time (because there's bound to be something you didn't see the last 3 times, right?) and you find some BBQ sauce. Mmmm you looove Sweet Baby Ray's. But wait, is still good? It's been a while, you think. Then you check the freezer - ah! Chicken! Old chicken. Very old. Then back to the fridge for some baby carrots. Ohh, they look a little dried out. Do take a chance on the BBQ chicken, or do you go boxed mac & cheese again?

Well, you can now rest easy. Gone are the days of the tried and true sniff test, or my father's trusted taste test ("I have an iron stomach"). Now you can know for sure if your chances of vomiting (or at least getting a solid stomach ache) are good or bad. Head over to your computer or whip out your smart phone and type this: http://www.stilltasty.com/ and voila! Just about every thing you can imagine, from spices to meat to produce and even chocolate - with instructions on when/how to store, and when to suck it up and pitch it.

Like...who knew that cooked beef brisket only lasts 2-3 months in the freezer? Not me. Or homemade goose fat lasts 6-9 months? Yum. Uncooked angel hair pasta? Yeah, 3 years. Opened OR unopened. Salad dressing (cough, moms) - 9 months in your fridge.

Enjoy, and you can thank me tomorrow when your stomach doesn't hurt.

Happy Birthday, Grandma!

by Patty

In a few weeks, Melt & I are going to be in Ohio for a wedding. The dude getting married is one of Melt's main homies from back in the day, and Melt is in the wedding.

That same weekend, my super-incredible grandma is turning 80 and her wonderful children (my mom included) are throwing her a soiree. Sadly, we will miss it.

So tonight, we were helping my mom out with a party surprise when I discovered this application on my Mac called Photo Booth. I know, for the seasoned Mac-ers it's probably lame and elementary. But it provided a solid 10 minutes of entertainment for me:

Happy weekend!

Melt is wondering if... there has ever been an offer compelling enough to get a wedding magazine subscriber to renew their subscription for another year or two or three?

Cupcake Model Turned Greeting Card Model

by Patty

Last night, Melt and I were just hanging out, having a quiet night at home hiding from the rain. We were making the rounds on the websites we usually visit, when we stumbled up our engagement pictures. On a greeting card website.

At first we did a double take. Then when we realized that YES, that actually IS us, we laughed. And laughed. And laughed again. We are The Millers, Jack & Kate and Jake & Jane:

(The top one is Melt's fav)

After further investigation, we learned that our awesome photographers have a partnership with Mango Ink, where Mango Ink exclusively features Studio 6.23's photographs to showcase their designs. Pretty cool, eh?

If Halloween could dress up like any other holiday, which would it choose?
